Follow the appropriate steps if there are issues with either the buttons on the handlebar controls (G2 Throttle) or display console itself.

Restarting the e-bike system (turning the bike off, waiting a few seconds, and then turning the bike back on) can solve many issues. Try a reset first, and if your issue persists, continue troubleshooting.

  1. Turn the system off.

After a crash, transport, or any reason to suspect damage, inspect the bicycle's electrical wiring. If cables are becoming loose or detached, wiring is exposed, or is otherwise flawed, contact us to schedule service.

  2. Unplug the connection between the console and the G2 Throttle.
    1. There are two connectors on the console bracket.
      1. Canbus communication connector (Hirose HR30) that is spring locked, which connects to the battery.
      2. 2.1mm barrel connector, which connects to the +/- and throttle buttons (G2 Throttle) on the handlebar.
    2. Unplug the barrel connector. This will bypass the handlebar controls and regenerative brake sensor.

The brake sensor can be plugged directly into the console bracket connector to maintain regen switch functionality if the G2 Throttle is found to be defective. Assistance levels can still be set using the +/- buttons on the console itself.

  3. Inspect the barrel plug for contamination.
    1. Check for any contamination (foreign objects, dirt, water, etc) or corrosion of the contacts. If needed, clean with a soft dry brush, compressed air, or if recommended by the manufacturer isopropyl alcohol or electronics contact cleaner.
    2. Tighten all connectors firmly.
  4. Double check that all connectors are secure. Turn the system on. If the buttons still aren't functioning properly, contact us to schedule service.

  2. Inspect the console and bracket connectors.
    1. Remove the console by pulling the tab on the bracket, and sliding it out.
      1. Check for any contamination (foreign objects, dirt, water, etc) or corrosion of the contacts. If present, clean with isopropyl alcohol, or electronics contact cleaner. In a pinch, use a cloth that is lightly damp (not wet!) with water and allow to dry completely.
      2. Depress spring loaded contacts (typically on the console itself) with a fingernail or plastic tool to check that they all extend properly to the same distance.
    2. Reinstall the display console.

Handle and store the console carefully whenever removing it to prevent drops, scratches, or other damage.

  3. Double check that all connectors are secure. Turn the system on. If the buttons still aren't functioning properly, contact us to schedule service.
